Inside Narrative & Storytelling Exhibition at Hygienic Gallery

The Inside Narrative and Storytelling exhibition features work by accomplished Gallery One CT artists whose art takes you on visual journeys -- from environmental, to historical, to lyrical. This multi-media exhibition hosted by the Hygienic Art Gallery in New London features paintings, printmaking, collage, watercolors, and photography. Join us for the opening reception on Saturday, March 23, from 6pm to 9pm. The show is on view from March 23 – April 20, 2024.

Exhibiting artists include: Rosemary Cotnoir, Michael Fanelli, Victor Filepp , Karen Israel, Ann Knickerbocker, Brian McClear, T. Willie Raney, Diana Rogers, Rick Silberberg, and Jill Vaughn.

“As artists we weave narratives and tell stories of our thoughts, emotions, and experiences, not only to comunicate with others, but also to reflect on the importance of these experiences in our lives,” explained Michael Fanelli. “Our stories give our lives context and allow us to create artwork that is relevant and meaningful," he said.

“Working in collagraph and collage provides the tools to narrate the layers of everyday living; sometimes complicated, sometimes simple,” said T. Willie Raney. “These layers always require our attention,” she said.

“My visual narrative was inspired by the lifesaving blue blood of horseshoe crabs and the beautiful sand wave patterns seen on the Old Saybrook shoreline,” said Jill Vaughn. “Collage has allowed me to combine several visual metaphors surrounding various environmental issues of concern,” she added.

The exhibition is on view from March 23 through April 20 at the Hygienic Art Gallery located at 79 Bank Street in New London, CT. Gallery hours are Thursday through Saturday from 12pm to 7pm and Sunday 12pm to 4pm. For more information, visit www.galleryonect.com or contact us at galleryonect@gmail.com.
