Paul Fitzpatrick Nager
Paul Nager
Paul Fitzpatrick Nager comes from the school of everything is everything...
that all of life is connected, and that our only hope is in accepting the majesty of this arrangement.
Paul is a stream of consciousness painter.
He has chosen the printmaking process for the richness of the darks and the comfort of the paper.
"I (began) begin my work with a silver plate covered with black ink. I see the darkness on the plate as the darkness in myself.
I may start with the swipe of the rag, or I may drag the brush through the ink, exposing the silver plate. First light...
the awakening of thought, of hope.
The lines of light might be the trail of the wind, the different directions it may come from...
its severity or its gentleness, the way the forms are shaped by the wind, the way the wind is shaped by the forms.
Sky becomes ocean, ocean becomes mountains, mountains become clouds.
I want to speak to the paths all things take. The paths I've taken.
Dancing through space and time the way we dance through our lives,
with crazy rhythm, with order and chaos...
living within the same breath, the same brushstroke.
